These conditions represent absolute contraindications. If you fall into any of the categories below, do not water fast without explicit approval from your specialist doctor.
Persons under 18 years (with medical exceptions)
Pregnant women
Women in the postpartum and breastfeeding period
Type I diabetes (insulin-dependent)
Active tuberculosis of the lungs or other organs
Bronchiectatic disease
Systemic blood diseases
Post-major focal myocardial infarction state
Chronic hepatitis and liver cirrhosis
Renal and chronic renal insufficiency
Jaundice
Severe eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia)
Severe anemia
Porphyria disease (genetic metabolic defect)
Conditions requiring special caution
These conditions do not completely exclude fasting, but require mandatory consultation with a doctor and experienced guide.
Old and severe psychiatric disorders (requires special supervision)
Gilbert syndrome (some cases tolerate fasting well)
Gout and urate nephrolithiasis (increases in uric acid)
Postural hypotension and cardiac arrhythmias (max. 7 days)
Ischemic heart disease with rhythm disorders
Severe arterial hypotension
Cholelithiasis
Gastric and duodenal ulcer
Chronic venous insufficiency
Cancer in advanced stages
Thyrotoxicosis
Thrombophlebitis
Diseases involving complete bed immobilization
